Panama Restaurant Week
Panama Restaurant Week has become the most anticipated culinary event on the Panamanian calendar, typically held in August. For one week, over 100 restaurants in Panama City offer 3-course lunch and dinner menus at fixed prices ranging from $15 to $45, providing access to restaurants that are normally out of budget. Establishments of all categories participate: from award-winners like Maito (best restaurant in Central America) and Donde José (tasting menu with weeks-long waitlist) to innovative local spots in emerging neighborhoods like San Francisco and Costa del Este. Menus are specially designed for the occasion, allowing chefs to showcase their creativity with dishes not on their regular menu. It's also a chance to discover Panama's culinary diversity: contemporary Panamanian cuisine, Asian fusion, seafood, premium steaks, and artisanal desserts. Reservations fill up quickly once participating restaurants are announced, so advance planning is recommended.
